East North West

Description

First of all - this pano doesn't do the real view any justice. The view I got from up there is one of the most amazing views I've ever seen, and I've been to quite a lot of places, all around the world.
Still, this view down the Innvalley, across to the Nordkette and into the Wipptal left me almost speechless...maybe it was just the perfect weather that made me feel like this.

Anyway, this is a nine shot panorama that was taken from the so called Pfriemeswand (2.103m) above Mutters.
The panorama covers some 270° and gives you an amazing view over two of the main valleys of the Tyrol - the Inntal (innvalley) left to right, and the Wipptal (Wippvalley), which is the main route to Italy over the Alps, middle to the right.

The mountain-range in the middle of the photo is the Nordkette, which is more or less guarding Innsbruck.
Within the Nordkette you will find mountains such as Großer and Kleiner Solstein (2.541m and 2.637m), Frau Hitt, Hafelekarspitze (2.334m), Großer and Kleiner Bettelwurf (2.650m and 2.726m) and many more.

The mountain where the two valleys part (right third of the photo) is the Patscherkofel (2.246m) and the mountain to the very right is the Spitzmandl (2.206m), which is only some 40 minutes from the Pfriemeswand where this photo was taken.

If you ever happen to be near Innsbruck in summer or early fall, take the bus up to the Axamer Lizum and then take the chair lift up to Birgitzkö;pfl. From there it's a 1hr walk/hike to the Pfriemeswand - it's worth the effort!
